The AEV (Agrupamiento Escolar de Vilela) comprises different levels of compulsory education: infant education (3 years and optional), basic education – 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles (9 years) and secondary education (3 years). At the secondary level, we teach general and vocational courses.

The School Group is immersed in a semi-rural area with a strong furniture industry located about 30 km from Porto.
About 2,400 students attend our schools and the majority, 1,700, at the basic level. We have around 220 teachers from all areas of expertise, 15 people in technical assistance and 65 people in operational assistance, as well as 3 school psychologists.
The grouping is made up of a main school (Vilela primary and secondary school), another primary and secondary school (Rebordosa primary and secondary school), three primary schools and a kindergarten (Vilela primary school, basic school nº1 da Rebordosa and Serrinha Basic School) and a small school with only kindergarten (Jardim de S. Marcos).
We have two structured learning units for the education of girls and boys with autism spectrum disorder, which represent a specialized resource to support students with special educational needs in order to allow them to acquire specific skills for their better integration into everyday and academic life. It is a multidisciplinary team, with teaching and care personnel who wish to take advantage of their structured power to carry out activities aimed at achieving the educational objectives of the different areas, which leads to the comprehensive training of students and awareness of inclusion and acceptance of the difference.

The AEV School Group is part of the municipality of Paredes in one of the most adverse contexts in the country. These are problems that the school has tried to reverse, which is why it has established a network of sustained partnerships, both between schools and with the local authority and various community entities.
It has good facilities, some classrooms equipped with interactive whiteboards and internet access in all classrooms. It belongs to the School Libraries Network, investing heavily in this resource, promoting various projects that encourage reading and writing.

The Association of Schools of the Training Center of the counties of Paços de Ferreira, Paredes and Penafiel (CFAEPPP) is based at the Vilela Secondary School, which is also its legal entity. The mission of this CFAE is to organize a
Continuous Training Plan that responds to the Training Plans for teachers and non-teaching assistants of the 21 schools that comprise it.
Finally, it must be emphasized that we firmly believe in inclusion and try to involve and train all the teaching teams of our schools and institutes, to meet the increasingly diverse needs of each and every one of the girls and boys in our centers.
